It can be omitted or set to one of the following:
If used, the WebCD Startup Page must be set an retrieved prior to building your WebCD.
If you used the Project Wizard to create your project, you were prompted, on the Include Startup Page? dialog, as to whether or not to include the default "Getting Started with WebCD Viewer" Startup page. If you selected Yes to include the default Startup page, you do not need to do anything else. The default Startup page is automatically retrieved into your project and the Shockwave helper application is automatically included for your build.
If you did not include the default Startup page during project creation, and wish to include it, use one of the two methods below to set the WebCD Startup page to the default:
Shortcut menu
1 | With WebCD Packager open, start the Windows 95 Explorer. |
2 | Find the following file in the Windows 95 Explorer:
install-path/setup/startup/startup.htm where install-path is the path where you installed WebCD Packager (by default c:\Program Files\MarketScape\WebCD Packager). |
3 | Drag the file startup.htm from the Windows 95 Explorer to the Retrieval View of the WebCD Packager. |
4 | Expand the hierarchy created under the file: protocol in the Retrieval View until you see the startup.htm document. |
5 | Right-click startup.htm and select Set as Startup Page from the Shortcut menu. |
Options dialog
1 | Select Options from the Build menu. You will see the Startup Page setting on the Build options dialog. |
2 | In the text box for the Startup Page, type in the following file URL for the default Startup Page:
file:///install-path\setup\startup\startup.htm where install-path is the path where you installed WebCD Packager. |
Once you have set the Startup page, re-start retrieval and select Retrieve only new documents (faster) to retrieve the Startup page and related files. (The Startup page must be retrieved prior to building.)
Note To see the multimedia presentation that is displayed on the default Startup page, select Getting Started with WebCD Viewer from the WebCD Packager Help menu.
Any HTML page can be your Startup page except a page that is redirected.
Note If the URL that you wish to set your Startup page to is redirected, set the Startup page to the non-redirected version of this page. That is, set the Startup page to the page to which the URL is redirected. If you are unsure, view the properties of the redirected URL by right-clicking the document in the Retrieval View and selecting Properties. Click the Properties tab and look at the Redirected to information. (This information will be absent if the URL is not redirected.)
Use one of the two methods below to set the Startup page:
Shortcut Menu
1 | Add the document you want as your Startup page to the Retrieval View. If the HTML document is on your Web site, it may already be in the Retrieval View (if you have retrieved your Web site). If not, use the New URL option or the Add URL button from the Browser View to add it to the Retrieval View. If the HTML page resides locally, drag it from the Windows 95 Explorer into the Retrieval View. See Adding Items for Retrieval for more details. |
2 | Find the document icon for the desired Startup page in the Retrieval View. |
3 | Right-click the document icon for the desired Startup page and select Set as Startup Page from the Shortcut menu. |
Options dialog
1 | Select Options from the Build menu. You will see the Startup Page setting on the Build options dialog. |
2 | In the text box for the Startup Page, type the URL for the desired Startup Page. |
If the Startup page has not been retrieved, re-start retrieval and select Retrieve only new documents (faster) to retrieve the Startup page and related files. (The Startup page must be retrieved prior to building.)
